The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women is a branch within the United Nations dedicated to supporting inter-governmental bodies, such as the Commission on the Status of Women, in their formulation of policies, global standards and norms. Since its creation in July 2010, UN Women has become the leader in meeting the needs of the world’s women, coordinating the UN system’s work on gender equality as well as promoting accountability through regular monitoring of system-wide progress.
