The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, otherwise known as the UN Refugee Agency, is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system dedicated to protecting the human rights of refugees, saving lives within these areas of conflict, and building better futures for forcibly displaced communities, refugees, and stateless people. Since its creation in December of 1950 during the aftermath of World War II, UNHCR has dedicated extensive resources in highly impacted areas of conflict, aiding in every major refugee crisis within Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
